Stubble Management |
|
All farmers are looking to reduce costs
and improve the efficiency of every operation they undertake in the growing of their
crops. |
Four years of work with European Farmers and testing the result with leading Universities
have resulted in the development of a new method of Stubble Management designed
to make your cropping cycle more efficient and less costly.
Traditional management of arable crop stubble has been geared around using the combine
as the primary tool for dealing with unwanted crop residue, straw and chaff. Farmers
cut the crop close to the ground, then chop and spread the crop residue
from the combine using the combine‘s strawchopper and chaff speader. Dealing with
unwanted crop residue in this way is costly. Up to 120hp can be consumed by a fine
cut straw chopper on today’s large combines. This can be over 20% of the combine’s
available power. The costs in fuel and wearing parts are also high.
The Stubble Management System uses a new high performance mowing system to manage
the chopping and distribution of crop residue in place of the combine. The System
delivers savings in fuel and wearing parts on the combine, speeds up crop residue
decomposition, lowers fertiliser requirements, and reduces disease carry over to
next season’s crops.
