The tests were conducted August 2007
in winter wheat yielding 6.5 t/ha and grown on medium to heavy soils. |

The table (above) shows the fuel consumptions and work rates of the combine when
harvesting stubble at different heights (14.6cm, 26.5cm and 36.5cm). Evidently in
the chart, as the stubble height increase so does the work rate whilst the fuel
consumption decreaes.

Combine Diesel Consumption
The chart above shows that if the stubble height is increased, the combines diesel
consumption decreases. By increasing your stubble height to 36.5cm the diesel
consumption can be decreased by
up to 38%. |

 |
Diesel Consumptions
The chart above shows and compares the diesel consumptions of the tractors
when using a flail and
rotory mowers to cut the stubble. As you can see in the chart
the rotary mower uses less diesel when cutting stubble and both heights.
|
Work Rates
The chart above shows and compares the work rate of the mowers used in the study. Again
the rotary mower used comes on top against the flail mower,
covering more hectares
per hour.

Chop Length
The chart above shows the average stubble length after being cut
with the flail mower. |
